Over Half A Million Portable Chargers At Costco Recalled After 2 Homes Catch On Fire

More than 500,000 chargers for portable electronic devices sold exclusively at Costco have been recalled after concerns were reported that they may overheat and catch fire.

MyCharge POWER HUB All-In-One devices have reportedly caused at least two home fires.

According to a notice posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website by myCharge, which also operates under the name RFA Brands in Birmingham, Michigan, 567,000 chargers are reportedly affected.

The company said there have been at least 120 incidents of its chargers overheating, including two reports of home fires and resulting in property damage claims totaling approximately $165,000.

Costco also received 115 returns from customers who claimed their portable chargers melted, swelled, smoked, caught fire, burned, exploded or sparked.

However, myCharge said it has not received any complaints of serious injuries requiring medical treatment.
