Investigation into Biden’s Cognitive Health
Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, has summoned Dr. Kevin O’Connor, who once served as President Joe Biden’s physician, amid allegations of a cover-up regarding Biden’s cognitive decline.
In a letter dated May, Comer mentioned that O’Connor had indicated a desire to participate in an interview scheduled for June 25, 2025, which would be transcribed. The letter also raised concerns about whether O’Connor’s financial connections to the Biden family might have influenced his evaluations.
The letter made it clear that the committee needed O’Connor to discuss the circumstances surrounding an assessment conducted on February 25, 2024. Additionally, there was interest in understanding if financial ties to the Biden family impacted Biden’s physical and mental fitness for presidential duties.
Comer stated that O’Connor had declined to comply with the committee’s request. He noted that O’Connor’s attorney responded on June 4, 2025, asserting that O’Connor’s failure to appear was grounded in legal obligations relating to patient-physician privileges, among other reasons.
In the attorney’s response to the committee, it was mentioned that compliance was hindered by ethical obligations under the AMA’s Code of Ethics and patient privileges. Comer dismissed these arguments as lacking validity.
Comer further criticized O’Connor’s attorney for “selectively citing” relevant legal codes, arguing that the legislation only restricts a physician from disclosing sensitive patient information in specific federal courts and not in congressional hearings. He pointed out that this interpretation is supported by the DC Court of Appeals, which emphasized that such laws create evidential privileges, not barriers to Congress.
Breitbart News previously reported on Republican plans to interrogate O’Connor about potential cover-ups related to Biden’s cognitive health. In contrast, Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have claimed that there has been no deception regarding Biden’s cognitive condition.
Back in February 2023, O’Connor stated that Biden was in good health following a physical exam, although he did not include cognitive assessments in his check-up. This raised eyebrows, particularly as Biden readies to announce a second run for the presidency in 2024. If he wins, he’ll break the record for being the oldest person to serve as U.S. president, not just once, but for two consecutive terms.
Following Biden’s lackluster performance during a presidential debate against Trump, Comer expressed concerns that O’Connor’s medical evaluations might have been swayed by his business relationships with the Biden family.
