If human creativity falters, AI vow generators may just thrive.
Turning to artificial intelligence for writing vows is definitely a modern choice, though not without its controversies. It seems that around 25% of couples are opting for AI tools to save time, reduce stress, and manage costs as wedding expenses climb.
Instead of spending precious hours or shelling out hefty sums for a writer, busy couples are embracing technology. For example, Jen Grantz, a New York mom, has developed a virtual wedding planning hub, offering more than 100 AI tools that can help users streamline their wedding planning process with just a few clicks.
Grantz’s innovative service features a Vows Generator that simplifies the sometimes daunting task of expressing heartfelt sentiments, as experienced by Veronica Ferrerias, who found herself struggling with writer’s block before her wedding.
“I had so much to say, but I just couldn’t figure out how to say it,” Ferrerias admitted. A quick online search led her to this AI tool just ahead of her October wedding to her fiancé, Casey.
“The tool asked me specific questions, like when our friendship turned into love,” she shared. “It really made the process easy.”
In just about 5-10 minutes, Ferrerias was pleased to have her vows ready, finding the AI to be incredibly helpful.
For Grantz, who once juggled over 70-hour workweeks to draft wedding speeches, this transition to AI has been a wish come true. “I’m earning while I sleep now, working only 25 hours a week,” she remarked.
Since launching her AI wedding planning tools in mid-2024, she’s reportedly made around $10,000 each month.
Grantz believes her technology surpasses competitors like ChatGPT, stating, “I don’t know what it doesn’t know, which is why my tools are tailored to client interactions, creating something unique and personal.”
Nonetheless, not everyone is on board. While some couples appreciate these AI-generated vows, others argue that such intimate promises shouldn’t be left to machines. In fact, almost half of surveyed couples think vows should remain genuine and not intermingled with technology.
Still, Grantz has attracted clients who appreciate the efficiency. For instance, Greg Young, a father of the bride, spent around $300 on a combination of AI tools and personal consultations to help him write a speech for his daughter’s wedding.
“I thought I had all the time in the world, but then reality hit three weeks before the wedding,” Young, an entertainment producer, explained.
Pressure mounted as he thought about addressing 140 guests, including his daughter. After a quick search online, he discovered Grantz’s services. “I input my thoughts into the system, and it generated a speech instantly,” he said.
With some help from Grantz, he refined his speech by recognizing guests and sharing meaningful stories about his daughter, even playfully teasing his son-in-law.
Young received rave reviews for his 10-minute toast. “There was no hesitation; I felt completely confident,” he recounted, noting that multiple guests approached him to say it was one of the best speeches they’d ever heard.
Grantz’s service includes different AI application options, both free and paid. Couples can specify the desired length and tone of their vows, ranging from casual to formal.
Often, couples receive a list of questions about their relationship to guide the AI in crafting personalized vows, and it usually takes just minutes to produce a draft.
“I’m stepping into a traditional industry but doing it in an unconventional way,” Grantz proudly states, referring to her 24-hour AI hotline for assistance.
With over ten years in wedding planning, Grantz originally started as a hired bridesmaid and eventually offered her writing services for vows and speeches.
However, her busy schedule took a turn in March 2023 when she welcomed her daughter, Gemma. Just hours after giving birth, she realized the need for an AI tool to help others with wedding preparations.
“I trained the AI based on my experiences over the years,” she explained, collaborating with a developer friend to launch the bridal bot in 2023, just as weddings were booming again post-pandemic.
Experts agree that AI can help alleviate many challenges in the wedding planning process, streamlining what can be a labor-intensive experience.
Ultimately, using Grantz’s service offers a level of discretion; as Young noted, “It was fantastic. My secret weapon.”
