One woman told the Pennsylvania district attorney: shot dead Castle Doctrine Under state law, home invaders are not charged with any crime.
Beaver Falls Police say a woman was alerted to the sound of slamming doors and breaking glass in the basement of her home around 5 p.m. Wednesday night.
Armed with a 9mm handgun, she went downstairs to investigate and discovered the stranger in the basement.
“When the basement door opened, there was a man standing there who she had no idea who he was. She ended up shooting him three times, killing him,” said Beaver County District Attorney Nate Bible. Ta. To KDKA-TV.
The woman showed KDKA a small basement window that the intruder allegedly broke to gain access to her home. She told police she had never met the man before.
KDKA asked the Bible whether the woman’s actions were right.
“I think so. From a legal standpoint, in that situation, yes, she did nothing wrong,” he replied. “When someone breaks into your home, they are making that conscious decision. They are there to steal from you or harm you in other ways. You have the right to protect yourself and use deadly force.”

Police later identified the alleged home invader as 49-year-old Brent Alan Farmer.
KDKA asked Bible what he could do to protect himself if he didn’t have a gun.
“There are classes where you learn self-defense and have a big dog help you,” he answered. “Anything other than a firearm can be used as a weapon.”
Beaver Falls Police and Beaver County detectives are still investigating the incident.
The city of Beaver Falls has a population of approximately 9,000 and is located approximately 50 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
