Pa. microbiologist reportedly shot by her boyfriend

Tragic Shooting in Pennsylvania

Authorities report that a man from Pennsylvania, identified as Michael Dutkiewicz, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Alyssa Rose Wiest.

The 26-year-old Dutkiewicz faces first-degree murder charges following the death of 25-year-old Wiest, who was shot during a violent incident early Sunday morning at their home in Conshohocken. This event unfolded around 12:25 a.m., according to the Montgomery District Attorney’s Office.

They had been in a relationship for two years, according to police statements.

Alyssa was described as a “beloved, shining star” in her obituary. It noted how she was vibrant and brought light to those around her.

“Her presence brightens every room she has entered, and her absence leaves a deep pain in the hearts of everyone who knows and loves her,” it added, reflecting a deep sense of loss.

Investigators discovered blood inside the home, which led them to the sidewalk where Wiest was found. Notably, the front door was ajar, indicating a potential struggle.

Alyssa, a University of Delaware graduate, worked as a microbiologist at GSK, a biopharmaceutical firm. She was pronounced dead at Lankenau Hospital.

Her obituary also spoke to her kindness, describing her laughter as contagious and noting that she had a unique ability to make others feel valued.

Witnesses reported seeing Dutkiewicz near his pickup truck shortly after the gunfire erupted and observed him fleeing the scene.

Authorities have since issued a warrant for his arrest. In addition to first-degree murder, he faces charges of third-degree murder and possession of criminal tools.

Dutkiewicz is currently being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility and is expected to appear in court on May 27th.
