Rich Bisaccia Resigns as Packers Special Teams Coordinator
Rich Bisaccia, the special teams coordinator for the Packers, has decided to step down, expressing that he feels head coach Matt LaFleur has “let down” the team.
At 65 years old, Bisaccia previously served as the interim head coach for the Raiders in 2021 and has spent four years in his current role with the Packers. Since March 2023, he has also been the assistant head coach.
In a statement released through the team, Bisaccia mentioned that he had been reflecting recently, which ultimately led to his choice to resign.
He expressed gratitude, stating, “I am deeply grateful to Matt LaFleur, Brian Gutekunst, Ed Policy, and Mark Murphy for their unwavering trust and support during my time in Green Bay. I also want to thank our players for their consistent work and tireless efforts to get better every day. The people in this building make it a special place to work.”
He went on to appreciate the fans and the Green Bay community for their passion. “Coaching the Green Bay Packers has been an honor, and I will always be grateful for my time here. I look forward to what the future holds for me and my family, and wish everyone in the organization the best of luck,” he added.
During Bisaccia’s tenure, the Packers ranked seventh in field position margin, and they had 42 kickoff returns of 30 yards or more from 2022 to 2025, which was tied for second in the league.
LaFleur remarked, “While we are disappointed in losing a valuable talent and coach like Rich, we respect his decision to resign. Rich has been a tremendous resource to me and the entire coaching staff and has had a huge impact on our players and the overall culture of the building. I can’t thank him enough for his contributions over the past four years.”
This change comes as part of a broader series of coaching shifts for the Packers as they prepare for the 2026 season, following the departure of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who took on a head coach position in Miami and brought along several assistants.
