The Eagles aren't the only team dealing with quarterback uncertainty entering the playoffs.
Packers quarterback Jordan Love said he is “hopeful” to play Sunday in Philadelphia, although a right elbow injury limited his participation in Wednesday's practice.
Notably, Green Bay even went so far as to cancel media practice attendance after stretches and before individual practices, which are normally open to reporters, preventing those in attendance from seeing Love pitch. I did it like that. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“Based on what's on hand, I'll get back to it,” Love said Wednesday about being a limited participant.
There aren't any defcon alerts yet on the frozen tundra, but the Packers got a scare in Week 18 when a pitcher hit his elbow on a throw and was ejected in a loss to the Bears.
Love later said he felt numbness in his throwing hand, but coach Matt LaFleur said the franchise quarterback could have returned to the game if needed.
Love said the numbness subsided by the next day and her grip strength was fine Wednesday, but the pain in her elbow became more of a problem Wednesday.
He even said he still had pain when throwing, and when asked if he would “strain” in practice, he added that he would wait until later in the week, probably Thursday or Friday.
LaFleur provided few details, saying Love pitched limitedly on Wednesday.
“I throw, normally,” Love said. “I don't understand. I don't know what you're talking about, I'm sorry.”
While it's certainly possible that Love is being a little cagey about his status, it's notable that he didn't explicitly say he would play on Sunday, opting instead to “we'll see.”
As far as playing, I don't know if I'll have to wear pads on Sunday.
The Packers are trailing by 4.5 points in DraftKings vs. the Eagles, indicating the betting community expects both Love and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to play on Sunday. .
Hurts returned to practice Wednesday after leaving Week 16 with a concussion and missing the final two weeks of the regular season.
In Week 1 in Brazil, the Eagles defeated the Packers 34-29 on rough ground, but Love was sidelined for the next two weeks with a knee injury.
“I've got to go out there and play my best ball on Sunday,” Love said. “Even if you go undefeated and make it to the playoffs, you could still lose your first game. So you have to be able to go out there and give it your all and give your best.”
