Rasheed Walker Arrested at LaGuardia Airport

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Rasheed Walker was taken into custody at a New York airport on Friday morning after he reportedly attempted to check in a bag that contained a firearm.

The 25-year-old NFL player faces charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. This incident occurred at LaGuardia Airport, as mentioned in a criminal complaint.

According to authorities, Walker presented a firearm when trying to check into a Delta flight around 10:30 a.m. However, he lacked the necessary authorization to carry it. A spokesperson from the Port Authority Police Department confirmed this detail.

The complaint states that Walker informed an airline employee about a 9mm Glock pistol he had stored in a locked box within his luggage. Upon investigation, police discovered the firearm along with 36 rounds of ammunition, all of which were also secured in a locked case.

Walker’s attorney indicated that the arrest stemmed from a misunderstanding, emphasizing that Walker possessed a licensed firearm. “The firearm was in a locked box, and he mistakenly believed he could travel with it,” stated Arthur Aidala, adding confidence that the case would be dismissed.

Walker’s journey in professional football began when he was selected by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He has been a significant player for the team, leading in offensive snaps last season and being a reliable presence at left tackle over the last three years. He is set to enter the 2026 offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

The Packers have not yet commented on the incident.
