Packers take advantage of frigid home-field elements in win against Dolphins

The Green Bay Packers used the weather to their advantage Thursday against a team not so used to playing in bitter cold.

The home team closed out the Thanksgiving tripleheader with a 30-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Simply put, the Packers weren't bothered by the frozen tundra from the jump. It was indeed a three-and-out on the first possession, but the punt was blocked and recovered by Green Bay inside the 10-yard line.

Three plays later, Jordan Love hit Jaden Reed for a touchdown. After the Miami punt, the Packers were 12 plays down the field and Josh Jacobs finished the job.

The Dolphins scored a field goal on their next drive, after which both teams traded punts before Love and Reed scored their second touchdowns. Miami turned the ball over on downs and the Packers added a field goal to end the half up 24-3.

Miami started the second half with a punt, and Green Bay responded with a field goal. Devon Ashen scored on the Dolphins' next drive and a successful two-point conversion suddenly made it a two-possession game.

After forcing Green Bay to punt, the Dolphins drove to the enemy line but were unable to score. The Packers then kicked another field goal, making it a three-possession game and effectively stopping the ballgame. However, Tyreek Hill was slow to reach the end zone.

Love completed 21 of 28 for 274 yards and both touchdowns.

Tua Tagovailoa went 36-for-45 for 357 yards, at least silencing any rumors that he can't play in the cold. Jonnu Smith gained 113 yards and led all receivers with 10 catches.
