After Charlie Woods shocked the golf world with his hole-in-one, Paddy Harrington matched it with an ace of his own.
The younger the better Harrington made an ace on the par-3 8th hole.he measured 214 yards on Sunday. That was minutes after Charlie holed in on the par-3 fourth, turning the PNC Championship into a hole-in-one festival.
Paddy's father Padraig said: “I've never been more excited in my life.''
“I'm glad because it was a great shot. I know my first hole-in-one wasn't an amazing shot. It was a perfect swing, a perfect shot and I was so happy when it went in. I've never experienced that before, because obviously you can win a tournament and accomplish that, and it's a different kind of pressure and excitement.”
“It was just pure joy.”
Interestingly, Harringtons played alongside Mark O'Meara and his son Sean, and last recorded an ace at the 2014 PNC Championship.
“I couldn't believe it, because we see it happen all the time. You hear the noise, you see the crowd go wild, and then you go wild too,” Padraig added. .
“Honestly, O'Mearas was a really great combination. Everyone was having fun. I don't think there was a better golfing moment. Like I said, there was a great crowd, including Mr. and Mrs. O'Meara. Everybody was hooked. It was perfect timing.”
On the previous hole, Paddy and Sean hear Charlie's hole-in-one and Sean says to Paddy:
Ten minutes after that statement, the third time of the tournament was held, courtesy of Paddy.
“You were too excited. You couldn't have told me. I was gone,” Padraig added.
“This is a great event, everything is great, and we try to play well, but it was pure joy. I've never been so excited on a golf course in my life. I don’t think there was.”
