A party was held in San Diego on Wednesday night.
The Padres defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-4 in the Wild Card Series, advancing to the National League Division Series for the third time in five years.
Champagne celebrations seem to happen more often in baseball than in any other sport, with teams typically celebrating after nearly every clincher.

Champagne bottles were smashed, beer was crushed and Fernando Tatis Jr. was shaken in the Padres' clubhouse.
During the team's celebration, Tatis showed off his dance moves shirtless, with his hat turned backwards, no shoes, and no sunglasses.
Tatis hit a two-run home run in the first inning of Game 1 of the series. In the clincher, he had 3 hits in 3 at bats.
This will be San Diego's third appearance in the Division Series since 2020, but it was Tatis' first postseason game in front of fans.

Mets bullpen loses lead in second half, Brewers surge with home run
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the entire 2020 season was held without fans, except for the National League Championship Series and World Series. So Tatis' epic viral bat flip took place in an empty ballpark.
When the Padres return to the postseason in 2022, Tatis will be suspended for using performance-enhancing drugs.
San Diego will now face their National League West rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers. All three of their Division Series appearances this decade were against LA.
The Dodgers dominated the Padres in 2020, but two years later the Padres got revenge by winning four games.
The Padres won this year's season series, 8 wins and 5 losses.
