Shooting Incident in Pahokee, Florida

A series of violent incidents in Pahokee, Florida, resulted in three fatalities, including the suspect, and left a sheriff’s deputy hospitalized late Wednesday night.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw commented on the bravery of the wounded deputy, stating that he could have easily lost his life during an initial vehicle attack. The deputy, who was thrown about 40 feet, managed to draw his firearm and stop the suspect. Bradshaw identified the deceased suspect as Charles McLeod Jr.

According to reports, at around 10:05 p.m., authorities were alerted to two individuals who had been shot near Daveland Villa. Not long after, another report indicated that someone in a black SUV had been shot at a nearby residence. Just minutes later, at 10:18 p.m., McLeod allegedly drove to a convenience store and shot and killed another person.

In the moments following the double shooting, while the deputy was securing the crime scene, McLeod returned, hit the deputy with his vehicle, and then exited with a handgun. The deputy, despite his injuries, was able to return fire before McLeod could shoot again. Deputies in the vicinity also engaged in the shooting, but McLeod had already been incapacitated.

McLeod was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy, along with the victim from the convenience store, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. Fortunately, the deputy only suffered minor injuries, including a compound ankle fracture, and both were expected to recover.

At this time, the identities of the two victims from the initial shootings have not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
