Unrivaled Day One Highlights

The opening day of Unrivaled showcased four exciting matchups featuring all eight teams in the league. In the afternoon games, Mist clinched a victory against Hibs with a score of 72-56, while Races triumphed over Vinyl, finishing 58-42. Later in the evening, the reigning champions, Rose Club, defeated the Lunar Owls 80-60, and the Brees edged out the Phantoms 69-62.

This intense, fast-paced 3-on-3 format really gives players the chance to shine and show off their talents. Here are some standout performers from the first day:

Chelsea Gray – Rose Club

Chelsea Gray kicked off the Unrivaled season in style, racking up 35 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. She led the Rose Club to their win over the Lunar Owls, marking a strong start for the season at 1-0. Gray, who was instrumental in last year’s Unrivaled Championship and also helped the Las Vegas Aces secure their third WNBA title in four years, seems to have hit the ground running since her return to Miami.

Paige Bueckers – Breeze Club

Making her debut in the Unrivaled league, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, Paige Bueckers, put on an impressive show, scoring 24 points along with 6 assists and 2 blocks. Leading the Brees to a 69-62 win over the Phantoms, she quickly made her mark as a player to watch this season.

Alisha Gray – Mist Club

Alisha Gray, fresh off her phenomenal WNBA season, had a remarkable first day at Unrivaled. The Atlanta Dream star scored 21 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, delivered 3 assists, and made 2 steals, driving the Mist to victory over Hibs at 72-56. What’s even more impressive is that she achieved all this in just 12 minutes on the court.

Azura Stevens – Rose Club

Azura Stevens also came off a standout WNBA season, playing a key role as an anchor on the Los Angeles Sparks’ frontcourt. In the Rose Club’s 80-60 victory over the Lunar Owls, she put up 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds—all in just 10 minutes. She’s definitely in the conversation for Most Valuable Player this season.

Britney Sykes – Race Club

Brittney Sykes contributed significantly to the Rays’ 58-42 win against Vinyl, scoring 19 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in merely 13 minutes. Recognized as an All-Star last season, she wasted no time in proving her prowess as a key scorer from day one.

Aaliyah Edwards – Moon Owls

Aaliyah Edwards delivered a double-double performance with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Having faced challenges in her second WNBA year, including a trade from the Washington Mystics to the Connecticut Sun, this strong showing is a positive indication for her future.

Honorable mentions include Marina Mabry (Lunar Owls), Tiffany Hayes (Phantom), Ariya Boston (Phantom), Monique Billings (Hive), Rickea Jackson (Breeze), and Dominic Malonga (Breeze).
