Paige Bueckers shines, but it isn’t enough for the Wings to secure their first win against the Storm.

WNBA Game: Wings Fall to Storm in Tight Match

In Arlington, Texas, Dallas rookie and former UConn standout Paige Bueckers put up an impressive 19 points and added eight assists during her second WNBA game. Unfortunately, her efforts couldn’t secure the Wings’ first win of the season, as they lost to the Seattle Storm 79-71 on Monday night.

Nneka Ogwumike led the Storm with 23 points and an impressive 19 rebounds, helping to maintain a strong performance in the second half.

Skylar Diggins also had a notable contribution, finishing with 21 points and nine assists.

Gabby Williams added 17 points for Seattle, which recorded a total of 25 assists among 29 successful baskets as a team.

For Dallas, Narissa Smith and reserve Maddie Siegrist both scored 12 points, while Tiara McCowan contributed 10. Arike Ogunbowale had a tough night, managing only eight points on 14 attempts.

The Wings are now 0-2, having struggled from beyond the arc, making just four of 19 three-point attempts, with Bueckers hitting 2-2.

Despite being down by as much as 17 points late in the first half, Dallas managed to claw their way back to within three points—64-61—after a basket from McCowan, but they could not close the gap further.

Seattle showcased their shooting prowess by going 11 for 11 from three-point range before halftime and finished the game with an overall shooting percentage of 41.4%. In contrast, Dallas shot 37% from the field, including just 19-4 (21.1%) from three-point range.

After Dallas briefly led 26-25 following the first quarter, Diggins hit a long-range three-pointer that helped shift the momentum in favor of the Storm, who then held a lead for the remainder of the game.

A late three-pointer from Williams pushed Seattle ahead 54-37 before halftime, setting the stage for their eventual victory.
