“One shouldn't be called a genius, and the other shouldn't be called an attention whore when they're doing exactly the same thing.”

“I was a gymnast before I turned to golf,” the former All-Mountain West Conference golfer said. “Wearing spandex was so comfortable that I hardly ever wore it, because that's what you wear when you compete in leotards. When I turned to golf, we were struggling a little bit financially. I couldn't afford to go out and buy a whole new golf-appropriate wardrobe, so I wore what I had in my closet, and that's how I learned how to play golf.”

Spiranac said he considers golfers to be athletes and wondered, “Why don't they dress like athletes?”

She talked about Lucas Glover sweating through his clothes during PGA Tour events and why golfers should wear what they're comfortable in. For example, LIV golfers are allowed to wear shorts while competing.

“That was my mindset when I started playing golf. It's shocking that it really has a negative effect on people,” she said. “They would have very heated arguments about whether they should wear shorts or pants, whether they should wear a braided collar or a real collar. And if I just wore a tank top or spandex, When I’m out here, people are like, ‘What are you doing?’” But I love it.
