Paige VanZant is passionate about a new money-making venture, but it may not be as lucrative as the career as a content creator that captures her thirst.
“I just signed the contract and I’m going to do the power slap whether people like it or not,” VanZant said in a video posted to her Instagram account.
In Power Slap, a highly controversial slap fighting sport run by UFC president Dana White, two fighters each slap the other in the face with no defense, with the last man (or woman) standing declared the winner, or if they aren’t knocked out within three rounds, they are declared the winner.
VanZant, 30, has fought in UFC, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, traditional boxing and now slap fighting, but added that it’s no longer a full-time job, but more like a hobby.
“I now understand that martial arts is just a hobby and a part-time job,” VanZant said. He said via TMZ. “I have to realize that OnlyFans is giving me everything.”
“There are many things I want to do. [do] “To provide for and support my family,” she continued, “I would kill for my family. This is much less than that.”
Outside of OnlyFans, VanZant has become a social media star, amassing 3.1 million followers on Instagram by constantly posting risqué paid content.
But her actual fighting career, like that of many others, appears to be quietly coming to an end.
She finished her UFC career with a 2-3 record and her boxing career with 0-2-1 draw, most recently against adult film star Elle Brook, in a draw.
VanZant was a -225 favorite going into that bout, so the result was at least a little disappointing, despite the reality that she was more likely a model than a fighter at this stage.
She is scheduled to compete at Power Slap when the promotion returns on June 28th.
