Two people walked away unharmed after a small plane spiraled into the ground in Florida on Thursday, the New York Post reported.
Two people survived an apparent plane crash after a small plane used a parachute to land safely in a Florida backyard. Resident Sheri Catlett recorded the incident on video as she watched the plane spiral down with its parachute open in an attempt to slow its fall. according to to the New York Post.
“I looked up and saw a plane with a parachute attached, circling and about to hit the ground,” Catlett said, the New York Post reported. The plane’s parachute opened successfully and caught on a tree, stopping the plane from hitting a power line. The New York Post said this fortunate respite likely saved the neighborhood from further danger.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue quickly arrived at the crash scene and found the two people inside the flipped plane unharmed. Authorities immediately took the passenger to a nearby trauma center, where doctors reported his condition to be stable, authorities said on Facebook. post.
“Multiple calls came into the 911 call center from individuals reporting an upside down airplane with a parachute deployed in a yard off Parsons Avenue,” Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said in a statement. “When HCFR arrived at the scene, both occupants had exited the aircraft and were walking, and there was no danger to the aircraft itself.” (Related: Report: Man jumps to death after parachute fails to open)
The plane, a two-seater single-engine Evector Harmony, took off from Tampa Executive Airport minutes before the crash, the Tampa Bay Times reported. report. It was registered with Skyhawk Leasing LLC in late February and had flown twice by that date.
