Emergency crews in Ocean City, New Jersey, sprang into action Saturday afternoon to rescue two people stranded on a disabled yacht that eventually ran aground on a sandbar near the beach.
According to the Ocean City Fire Association, emergency crews, Ocean City police and beach patrol officers responded to a water rescue near 22nd Street and the beach around 2 p.m. Saturday.
When rescuers arrived, they found the 40-foot sailboat broken down and two people aboard.
Rough waves tossed the ship, and the sailboat soon approached the sandbar.

Firefighters conducted a water rescue and first contacted the two people on board the yacht.

Later, the boat ran aground on a sandbar, and firefighters rescued the two people on board.
One of them was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Facebook, the association praised the “quick response and team effort” that resulted in a positive outcome for everyone involved in the incident.
