ASP Syeda Shervano Naqvi has also been praised online for her bravery.
A Pakistani female police officer has been praised for her quick action to defuse a potentially violent situation in Lahore. A widely shared video shows Deputy Superintendent of Police Shervano Naqvi saving a woman from a mob.
The woman was targeted by a mob for blasphemy after mistaking the Arabic print on her kurta for a verse from the Quran. Police were called to a local restaurant and the woman, accompanied by her husband, was asked to remove her kurta.
Police, including Naqvi, responded to the call. The video showed ASP Naqvi trying to clear up the confusion surrounding the kurta before escorting the woman to safety from the mob.
Commenting on the incident, Naqvi said, “The woman was out shopping with her husband. She was wearing a kurta with some words written on it. Some people saw her and asked her to take off her kurta. “There was confusion.” ”
Her role in calming the angry crowd and safely escorting the accused woman from the restaurant won praise and recognition.
Inspector General of Punjab Usman Anwar officially stated Ms Naqvi’s name was nominated for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM), Pakistan’s highest gallantry award for law enforcement, citing her “heroic deeds” and saying: Ta.
