Palestinian Authority Bans Al Jazeera for Incitement, Misinformation

The Palestinian Authority (PA) announced on Wednesday that it would ban the Qatar-based Al Jazeera network for “broadcasting inflammatory content, spreading false information, and interfering in Palestinian internal affairs.”

As Breitbart News reported, Israel shut down Al Jazeera's local bureau in May because it was allegedly spreading pro-Hamas propaganda and helping terrorists find targets in Israel. Because it is. Israel also named and in some cases killed Al Jazeera journalists and stringers who also served as employees of Palestinian terrorist organizations.

PA's decision is reported From Palestinian state news agency Wafa:

The Palestine Ministerial Committee, made up of representatives from the ministries of culture, interior affairs and telecommunications, announced the suspension of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera Media Network's broadcasting operations in Palestine.

The commission also ordered the suspension of operations of all journalists, staff and affiliated channels affiliated with Al Jazeera. This decision will remain in effect until the network resolves its legal status in which it is deemed to be in violation of applicable laws and regulations in Palestine.

The committee said the decision was taken because Al Jazeera repeatedly violated Palestinian laws and regulations. Authorities accused the network of broadcasting inflammatory content, spreading misinformation, interfering in Palestinian internal affairs, and fomenting division and instability.

Although provisional, the decision is likely to be final as Al Jazeera is unlikely to yield to the PA's demands.

It remained to be seen whether those who had criticized Israel for banning Al Jazeera would also criticize the Palestinians for doing the same.

The Palestinian Authority is reportedly It is outraged by the network's coverage of clashes between its troops and terrorists in the city of Jenin.
