Palestinian Teen Shot Dead During Israeli West Bank Raid: Report

Violence in the West Bank was already on the rise before the Israel-Hamas war

Israeli forces shot dead a 13-year-old Palestinian boy during a raid in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian state news agency Wafa reported Saturday, and the Israeli military said it was investigating the incident.

According to a Wafa report, there were clashes with Israeli forces during a pre-dawn military raid in the town of Kabatiyah, south of the city of Jenin. The Israeli military said a large number of Palestinian gunmen opened fire on Israeli troops, who also returned fire.

Later, there were reports that a Palestinian minor had been killed, the military said.

“The circumstances of the incident are under review,” the agency said in a statement to Reuters.

Wafa said the boy’s death was confirmed by Fawaz Hamad, director of Al Rajhi Hospital in Jenin.

Violence in the West Bank, among the territories where Palestinians seek statehood, was already on the rise before the Israeli-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip began in October, and has been followed by frequent Israeli attacks and Palestinian street attacks have intensified.
