Newly confirmed U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy said in a media briefing Wednesday that the Department of Justice is filing a lawsuit against New York officials regarding immigration enforcement.
Bondy said lawsuits have been filed against New York State, as well as Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), Attorney General Letitia James and Motor Vehicle Commissioner Mark Schroeder (D).
“If you're a state that doesn't comply with federal law, you're next. Get ready!”
“This is a new DOJ and we are taking steps to protect Americans, American citizens and angel moms,” Bondi said at her first media briefing.
“New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens,” she added. “It's stopping. It's stopping today.”
The Justice Department previously announced lawsuits against Illinois and Chicago for similarly obstructing enforcement of federal immigration laws.
“Millions of illegal foreigners with violent records flooded our community, bringing them violence and deadly drugs,” she added.
Bondi has the woman talk about her 20-year-old daughter and is raped and murdered by members of the MS-13 gang.
“If you do not comply with federal law, we will hold you accountable,” Bondy continued. “If you're a state that doesn't comply with federal law, then you're next. Get ready!”
She explained that the state has a “chip-off” policy that warns illegal immigrants when information is requested by federal officials in the motor vehicle sector. Bondi said the policy was unconstitutional.
Bondi ended the briefing by repeating the threat to other cities that refuse to work with the federal government.
“It's over, it's over, we'll come after you!” she said.
