Paranormal investigator discovered deceased following tour of a ‘haunted’ doll.

Paranormal Investigator Dan Rivera Passes Away

Dan Rivera, a well-known paranormal investigator, sadly passed away just hours after concluding a sold-out event featuring the notorious Annabelle doll in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Rivera’s death was confirmed by the New England Psychic Research Association (NESPR), describing it as “sudden and heartbreaking.” He was 54 years old and found unresponsive in his hotel room on Sunday.

First responders attempted CPR but were unable to revive him, as noted in reports. The Gettysburg event marked the last stop of the Devils on the Run tour. A Facebook post from a fellow investigator reflected on Rivera’s contributions, saying, “Dan was our great man and a good friend to us. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.”

About Dan Rivera

A U.S. Army veteran, Rivera was a devoted husband and father of four, serving as the chief investigator for NESPR. He also made appearances on the Travel Channel’s “Most Ghostly Places” and lent his expertise to Netflix’s “28 Days Haunted.” According to NESPR, Rivera was driven by a desire to educate and connect with others, and he was described as a “deep, caring, loyal, dedicated friend.”

Annabelle was central to Rivera’s final tour. This doll, known for its ominous backstory, became relevant in the horror genre, especially through the “Conjuring” films that began in 2013.

The Legend of Annabelle

The unsettling tale of Annabelle began in 1970 when a nurse in Connecticut reported that the doll had moved on its own, leaving notes and even attacking a friend. While original claims suggested the spirit of a seven-year-old girl named Annabelle Higgins was inside the doll, prominent paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren dismissed this idea. They concluded instead that “malicious beings” used the doll to manipulate and harm.

Activity associated with Annabelle escalated, leading to physical assaults and disturbing notes, resulting in its removal by the Warrens to their museum. Since the closure of the museum in 2019, the doll has been carefully monitored and transported under strict supervision by NESPR.

Tributes have poured in for Rivera, with fellow investigator Ryan Buell noting how Rivera supported him during tough times. Buell shared, “He believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself.” He lamented the dreams that Rivera had yet to fulfill, shining a light on the profound impact he had on those around him.

Officials have stated that Rivera’s death is not considered suspicious, with the Adams County Coroner confirming no signs of foul play. An autopsy is pending, following standard procedures for deaths outside of a hospital.

NESPR announced that the tour would continue in honor of Rivera, sharing his own poignant words: “In life, I leave myself with my loved ones and friends. So I say I will never die. My journey has only begun.”
