Parents Arrested After 3-Month-Old Girl Found Dead in Bronx Woods

ABC7NY announced Monday that the parents of a three-month-old baby girl were found dead in the woods of the Bronx, New York City. report.

Genevieve’s 23-year-old father, Damion Commerger, has been charged with murder and manslaughter. Authorities said Commerger told his parents on May 14 that he had shaken the baby because it would not stop crying, and then found the baby dead.

“Commerger [allegedly] In a panic, they bagged the infant and then dumped it on the main Deegan highway a few blocks from the makeshift shelter where they lived,” the report said.

The baby’s grandfather told the priest what happened and said he wanted to “do the right thing” by calling the police, according to the report.

Detectives questioned both Commerger and the baby’s mother, Ivana Paolozzi, 20, on Sunday.

“Police spent hours searching the area around the University Family Residence on University Avenue. says the report.

Paolozzi has also been charged with concealing a human corpse and obstructing government, officials said.

“I love my daughter,” Ms. Commerger told reporters as she was being driven into a patrol car, according to reports. When reporters asked if she rocked the baby, she said, “It was a mistake.”

An autopsy was performed, but the official cause of death has not yet been determined. The New York City Police Department is reportedly investigating the incident as a homicide.
