Parents Arrested After Special Needs Child Exposed to Fentanyl

Arkansas parents are facing child endangerment charges after their 3-year-old special needs child was found wandering in a parking lot before testing positive for fentanyl, authorities said.

Police arrested Quinterio Holman and Camille Barker on Wednesday following an incident Oct. 24 in the 1200 block of West Speedway in Truman. action news 5 reported.

According to the initial incident report, police responded to the scene and found a filthy-looking toddler wandering around the parking lot.

“Police searched the area and attempted to locate the child's parents. They discovered an unsecured door at a boutique and coffee lounge in the same building as Pizza Hut,” the report states. “When police entered the building, they found the child's parents, Holman and Barker, sleeping on the floor. ”

After further investigation, police discovered that the child was autistic. The report also found that Holman, who was already on probation, and Barker “deliberately left the door unlocked.”

According to the incident report, the couple told police that they needed two people to watch over her while she worked.

The next day, the Department of Human Services took the infant to the hospital because he was extremely sleepy. The child ultimately tested positive for fentanyl, the report continues.

A hair follicle test later revealed that the child had experienced prolonged drug exposure over several months; According to To WREG Memphis.

Holman and Barker are charged with first-degree child endangerment, introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another, and third-degree child endangerment.

Mr. Holman's bond was set at $75,000 and Mr. Barker's bond was set at $100,000.
