Parents Brawl at Texas Youth Softball Game
A youth softball game in Texas took a surprising turn when a violent altercation broke out among parents, resulting in arrests and a number of injuries.
This unusual incident occurred at Imperial Park in Sugar Land, Texas, where Kiarious Marshun Hall and his wife, Jazmine Hall, were watching their daughter play.
The conflict began over Kiarious’s enthusiastic cheering while players from the opposing team were at bat. Another parent confronted him, stating he “couldn’t cheer before the players pitched the ball.”
This disagreement escalated quickly, leading to Kiarious striking that man with a metal water bottle, knocking him to the ground and leaving him unconscious.
In the midst of the chaos, Kiarious is also accused of hitting a grandfather, Gary Greaser, who attempted to intervene. Greaser recounted, “I said, ‘You can’t do this.’ I took him; I wanted to disarm the guy, because he’s going to do it to somebody else.”
Greaser noted, “We’re saying, ‘Hey, why are you getting loud?’ It’s bad sportsmanship to do it right as the pitch comes up when our girls are batting, and that’s all it took. He just flipped and said, ‘I can do whatever I want; I can say whatever I want. And you can’t stop me.’”
Kiarious contends his reaction was self-defense after he felt he was “poked and elbowed” in the chest. However, court documents and available video evidence don’t seem to back up his claim.
Additionally, reports indicate that Jazmine pushed Greaser, causing him to fall.
Kiarious was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury, while Jazmine resigned from her role as assistant principal at Lamar Junior High School.
The Lamar CISD made a statement acknowledging the situation, emphasizing that the employee reported the incident voluntarily and that it took place outside school activities.
Both Greaser and the man struck by Kiarious were hurt. Greaser sustained a broken hip and required seven stitches on his chin, while the other individual suffered a broken jaw, a fractured skull, and multiple brain bleeds. As of now, he remains hospitalized.
