When this Texas couple found out they were expecting quadruplets, they were both surprised and excited. However, after the baby was born, the parents were separated from their baby for more than a week due to a winter storm in Texas.

Stalin and Bill Cafferata suffered from infertility for years. So, the couple was keen to finally expand their family. After trying it out for a while, they were surprised to find that it not only added one new life to the planet, but four quadruplets.

The two took the pregnancy well. They dealt with the challenges that come with being on your feet with four babies. After 31 weeks and many hospital visits, our daughters Lennon, Stella and Francesca, and our son Enzo, were finally born into the world.

Newborn quadruplets left behind in hospital

The newborn quadruplets were temporarily admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center because they were delivered early. This is the same hospital where Stalin works as a pediatric emergency room nurse.

The news that a winter snowstorm was approaching Texas didn’t worry the couple too much. Both are from New Jersey, so snow is no stranger to them. But after the storm hit, leaving millions of Texans without electricity and running water, the situation in Caferata worsened.

Due to the circumstances, the couple was unable to make the 40-mile drive to the NICU. So the babies remained there without seeing their parents for eight excruciatingly long days.

“It was a really cruel feeling that I couldn’t pass on to my children,” Stalin said. explained. “The nurses and staff were great and they FaceTimed us, but not being able to hug them was cruel.”

Separation from their babies left new parents heartbroken. As soon as conditions cleared enough to drive, the couple rushed to North Austin Medical Center in St. David’s. There, they had a tearful reunion with their precious, healthy newborn.
