Early Saturday morning, a fast-moving snowstorm dumped unexpected and uneven amounts of powder snow across the Big Apple.
A whopping 8.9 inches of snow was reported at Coney Island, while just 2.7 inches was recorded at LaGuardia Airport, according to the National Weather Service.
“It was a pretty steep slope, much higher than expected, due in part to this narrow band of snow that fell from west of Allentown (Pennsylvania) to the Jersey Shore,” said Fox Weather Meteorologist Cody Blood. told the Post.
“These snow bands can be really intense and hard to predict,” he added.
Two inches fell in Central Park, five inches fell near Bay Ridge, and 6.1 inches fell at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Initial forecasts called for only 1 to 2 inches of snow.
