It was the worst seat relegation in history.
A man named Brent had a really bad flight, locking himself in a plane’s toilet for 35 minutes until he was finally rescued by the pilot.
His wife gave a detailed account of his unfortunate outhouse arrest. On Reddit, he posted a video of himself boarding a plane online.
“Don’t ask me who was flying the plane,” the anonymous woman captioned a post about the incident on a Delta flight from Salt Lake City, Utah to New Orleans, Louisiana.
The trip was reportedly going well until her 34-year-old husband disappeared into the bathroom for a long time, leaving her two children, ages 2 and 4, behind.
“Five minutes later, I wondered what was going on,” said his wife. She even joked that he was taking a “much-needed” break from his children’s “whining demands and frequent tantrums.”
After another five minutes, she realized this was no goof when she was told by a flight attendant that someone was locked in the toilet.
According to the post, they said, “The door is jammed and someone is trapped in there,” to which she responded, “I think it’s my husband!”
The distraught woman then turned her attention to the rear of the plane, where two stewardesses were “pulling at the bathroom door handle” in an attempt to free her soulmate from onboard confinement.
At one point, they even tried to recruit a male passenger who pointed out the door as “the worst,” but to no avail.
By then, the poor passenger had been trapped in a “3.5-foot by 5-foot box of pee and poo” for nearly 30 minutes, according to the post.
Just then, a pilot came to help Brent.
“I think they might have needed him.” [the pilot’s] “They gave us permission to potentially damage the door to let Brent out,” the Redditor revealed. “The pilot was really giving it his all.”
An accompanying video shot by a fellow passenger shows the flyboy relentlessly fiddling with latches and pulling on door handles as the crew and other astronauts look on.
But Brent finally managed to escape 35 minutes after he first entered the high-rise toilet, “kicking out the door as hard as he could” while the pilot was in tow.
This bathroom layover may not seem like a picnic. However, the poster said he was glad his 4-year-old was not with him and that it was not the elderly, children, claustrophobic or germaphobic people who were trapped instead.
Unfortunately, customer service did not refund the couple’s “terrible” flight, according to the post.
Lady Tagliato had a field day with a mile-high accident.
“Sounds like the worst possible situation,” one person wittily joked, while another wrote: “I thought you’d eventually give up and tell me to sit down during the landing.”
“Plot twist: Brent tried to get away from his wife Karen for a few more minutes and left the door closed from the other side,” joked a third man.
Many Redditors are right to point out her concerns about who is flying the plane instead of the flyboy. Every flight has multiple pilots.
Some scolded the poster for demanding a refund, but thought it went a little too far.
In fact, the ordeal could have been much worse. Like this poor guy on the SpiceJet plane last month, he could have been stuck there for the entire flight.
