San Diego (border notification) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection offers “Registration on Arrival” at many airports, including San Diego International Airport. Global entry program.
The program allows low-risk travelers arriving on pre-approved international flights to skip the CBP screening line.
Conditional acceptance into the program requires only documentation of U.S. residency, such as a valid passport, driver’s license, and utility or credit card bills.
Once a traveler is conditionally approved, no further interview is required. Travelers can complete a registration interview when arriving on an international flight.
CBP officers at airports such as San Diego International Airport interview and collect biometrics from travelers to complete registration. This can be done after clearing CBP processing.
According to CBP, as an added benefit, Global Entry members are also eligible to participate in the TSA Pre✓™ expedited screening program, which allows travelers to pass through TSA without having to remove their shoes or other requirements. Special lanes are available. For both international and domestic flights.
Registration for the program costs $100 and is valid for five years.
