Brian Hoyer and Family Experience Sudden Loss
Former NFL quarterback Brian Hoyer is facing a difficult time as he and his family grieve the unexpected death of a loved one.
Hoyer took to social media to share the heartbreaking news of his sister-in-law, Carissa, who passed away last Friday at the age of 36. The specifics surrounding her death haven’t been made public yet.
“It is with a heavy heart that I write this,” Hoyer wrote in his Instagram post. Carissa leaves behind Brian’s brother, Brett Heuer, and their four young daughters.
Hoyer noted how, in an instant, Brett has become a widow and a single dad to their daughters, all under the age of 12. It’s certainly a lot to take on in such a short time.
The family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with financial support during this time. According to Hoyer’s social media, the goal was set at $100,000, and, remarkably, they have already surpassed it as of Thursday night.
In the GoFundMe description, Carissa is remembered as “a strong and courageous woman who loved her family dearly” and was passionate about starting her own family.
The obituary emphasizes how she embraced her role as a wife and mother with all her heart. “She was the heart and soul of their home, providing encouragement, faith, warmth, and love through all of life’s ups and downs,” it stated.
The financial assistance aims to ease Brett’s everyday burden as he navigates single parenthood. The family hopes Brett can focus on loving his daughters and finding comfort in their shared grief, rather than worrying about financial concerns.
Brian’s brother, Matthew, expressed heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support the family has received. “There are really no words to fully express what this means to our family,” he shared.
Brian Hoyer last played in the NFL in 2023 and began his career with the Patriots back in 2009. In 2024, he transitioned to a role with the broadcast team.
