Lorenzo Sewell, senior pastor of Church of 180, on Fox News on Monday blasted Democrats, saying they take Black votes “for granted.”
After making headlines for highlighting that both President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama did not visit “poverty areas” and failed to thank Trump for the visit, Sewell appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” to talk about his recent meeting with former President Donald Trump in Detroit. After Fox host Laura Ingraham played a clip of a CNN data reporter examining a big shift in support for Trump among key Democratic voting blocs, Ingraham asked Sewell if he was surprised by the shift to the right among black voters in this election. “The reason I’m not surprised is [is] “Because Democrats have taken our vote for granted,” Sewell said. “They’ve led our community for 56 years. They have a $2.7 billion budget and nothing has changed. You don’t have to be mental. You don’t have to be logical. You just have to look. Ray Charles would have seen that their policies are failing our community.”
According to CNN’s senior data reporter, while Biden still leads among key Democratic voters, Trump’s 21% approval rating is above the “historic norm” and black voters under 50 appear to be “dropping off in droves.”
Polls show Biden is trailing Trump in key battleground states as he loses some of his party’s core voting base. USA TODAY/Suffolk University Black voters in Pennsylvania and Michigan have lost support for Biden since the 2020 election, with polling data showing the president’s approval rating among Black voters in Pennsylvania has fallen by 20 percentage points and in Michigan, it has fallen by 22 percentage points.
