Twin Brothers Embrace Hunting as Spiritual Practice
Twin brothers Chad and James Hampton, who are both pastors, believe they are engaged in “managing God’s creation” while hunting, citing Genesis 1:26 as a guiding principle.
The brothers, who established Huntin’ the Truth Ministries, shared their perspective in a recent discussion. Chad mentioned, “We know that God’s given us that food to manage and also consume so that we can be what He’s created us to be,” emphasizing their belief in stewardship of nature.
He further stated, “We’re managing God’s creation that He gave to us.” Their interpretation of Genesis 1:26 supports their view: it speaks of humanity being created in God’s image and given dominion over the animals of the earth.
The website of Huntin’ the Truth Ministries outlines their purpose, portraying hunting not just as a sport but as a means of restoration and connection to faith.
In the mission statement, they clarify, “Our mission is to create and restore relationships with Jesus Christ through hunting and the outdoors.” They have broadened their impact nationally, offering guided hunting experiences for young men and those who may lack traditional mentorship in their lives. Furthermore, they assist other organizations in fostering their own hunting ministries.
Chad and James are alumni of Rochester Christian University and currently serve as pastors in Michigan.
