Patients brace for transition as Anthem Blue Cross may possibly drop Scripps Health – ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV

SELAMESA, Calif. (KGTV) – Come January 1, you may need to change doctors if you have Anthem Blue Cross.

Scripps Health is in negotiations with Anthem Blue Cross, but the hospital's providers could be removed from the insurer's network starting in early 2025.

Over the years, John Concepcion has been treated for diabetes, sleep apnea, and arthritis.

“It's just an effect of aging, but it's still disconcerting to change your health care at this part of the game, two-thirds of the way through the ride,” Concepcion said.

Concepcion is just one of many Anthem Blue Cross members preparing for the next step in case Scripps Health is deemed out-of-network.

Scripps Health and Anthem Blue Cross are in negotiations.

Scripps said in a statement: said“Anthem's policies force Scripps physicians and staff to spend significant time and resources dealing with insurance company red tape, time and resources that should be focused on patient care.”

Concepcion wishes he had known about the situation sooner. He said he felt he was not informed of the potential transition early enough.
