Patricia Heaton Raises Alarm on Anti-Semitism in America
Actress Patricia Heaton, who has won an Emmy Award, has expressed concern that the growing anti-Semitism in the U.S. could potentially lead to another terrorist attack similar to 9/11. Her comments came on the somber anniversary of the Palestinian-led assault on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Heaton, alongside Brooke Goldstein, founder of #EndJewHatred, appeared on Fox News recently and highlighted that many Americans aren’t sufficiently recognizing the surge in anti-Semitism within the country. Heaton remarked that it’s “unbelievable” how quickly circumstances are worsening, suggesting, “If people wake up, stand up and make their voices heard, we might witness another 9/11 in this nation.”
Goldstein also shared her thoughts, indicating that there seems to be a fading awareness among Americans regarding the dangers posed by radical Islam.
“I think many are beginning to realize that radicalization, particularly that which is theologically motivated, poses a real threat to the U.S.,” she stated. “Why did it take so long for us to recognize this after 9/11 when Muslim extremists committed such atrocities?”
Goldstein criticized the narrative of “Islamophobia” in the U.S., asserting that anyone who openly discusses the dangers linked to radical Islam often faces labeling as Islamophobic or racist.
She emphasized that the 2023 assault on Israel shouldn’t be viewed merely as an attack on Jews, but as a more extensive threat to Western civilization itself.
“American civilians have been kidnapped, murdered, and others remain hostages in Gaza. This acts as a strike against democracy in the West, a jihad against our way of life,” Goldstein said emphatically.
However, Heaton expressed skepticism about whether people are acknowledging the hatred surrounding them. She voiced worries about the alarming rise in anti-Semitism globally.
“After October 7th, I thought that all Americans, especially Christians, would rally in support of Israel, and that there would be large protests in solidarity with Israel on the 8th and 9th. Instead, there was mostly silence and even significant backing for Palestine and Hamas,” Heaton noted, pointing to the disappointing lack of widespread support for Israel following such a tragic event.
Calling the attack on October 7 a “horrible incident,” she remarked, “It’s outrageous how the world seems to be supporting the attackers now.”
Heaton underscored the necessity for Christians to stand in solidarity with Jews. “It’s essential for Christians to recognize this situation and support the Jewish community. Not only for the sake of shared democratic values we hold but also for our own benefit,” she explained. “We must remember 9/11 and the earlier attack on the World Trade Center, as well as take seriously these assaults on Jews occurring within our own country.”
