Patrick Beverley reportedly choked and punched his sister during an arrest incident.

Patrick Beverley, a former NBA player and podcast host at Barstool Sports, was arrested on November 14 due to allegations of assaulting and choking his sister in a serious altercation.

According to court documents accessed by the newspaper, Beverley’s 15-year-old sister reported that she left their Fort Bend home without permission to see her 18-year-old boyfriend. Upon her return, she was confronted by her mother and Beverley, who allegedly picked her up by the neck, lifting her off the ground.

The sister stated that she experienced choking and pain for around 20 to 30 seconds, feeling deprived of oxygen and unable to breathe.

Witnesses claim he then took her out of the room, sat her on the couch, and punched her once in the left eye, also threatening, “A relative of the family is going to kill her.”

After this, the boyfriend was told to leave the house, and Beverley followed him outside.

Law enforcement arrived after the boyfriend called for help and found the sister with visible marks on her neck and petechiae in her eyes.

Beverley was subsequently booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on a charge of third-degree assault, with bail set at $40,000.

In a follow-up post, he noted that he has no criminal history and expressed deep concern for his younger sister. He mentioned that any brother would share his worries after finding her alone with an 18-year-old man late at night. However, he asserted that the events described did not occur as reported and expressed eagerness to clarify the situation in court.

If found guilty of a third-degree felony in Texas, Beverley could face a prison sentence of two to ten years.

Beverley last participated in NBA games during the 2023-24 season, playing for both the 76ers and the Bucks. He joined Hapoel Tel Aviv for the 2024-25 season but was suspended in February and eventually left the team.
