Patrick Mahomes' mother discusses transgender athletes in women's and girls' sports

Randi Mahomes Discusses Trans Athletes in Girls’ Sports

In a recent podcast appearance, Randi Mahomes, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, shared her views on the participation of transgender athletes in girls’ sports.

During her conversation with Tirralan Watkins, Randi reflected on a contentious issue that has garnered significant attention across the U.S., even reaching the ears of notable figures like President Donald Trump.

When asked about the fairness of allowing trans athletes to compete against female athletes, she shared her personal experiences. “I’ve played on coed teams throughout my life,” Mahomes said. “There’s a significant difference between men and women. As a woman, I think it’s just not a fair matchup. I’m supportive of transgender individuals, but I feel there needs to be a distinction when it comes to sports.”

She elaborated on her beliefs, mentioning that while the idea of inclusivity is commendable, she believes that gender differences in genetics play a crucial role in competitive fairness. “There’s a difference in DNA,” she noted. “Women should compete with women and men with men. That’s just my perspective.”

Randi Mahomes isn’t one to shy away from expressing her opinions. She also shared her enthusiasm for Trump’s bid for re-election and looked forward to the Chiefs’ upcoming match against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
