Patrick Mahomes Reveals Special Promise Kept with Christmas Day Win

The Kansas City Chiefs had a lot at stake when they faced the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day. If they win, they will secure the overall seeding in the AFC playoffs.

QB Patrick Mahomes wanted to win for that reason. But he also had another ulterior motive.

Before the game, Mahomes promised his pregnant wife that if he won and secured first place in the AFC, they could have a third child together, even if he didn't play in the game.

“I told my wife, my pregnant wife, that I'm going to get the No. 1 seed and go have a baby,” Mahomes told Netflix's sideline reporter Stacey Dales. “We got one seed.”

Reacting to her husband's words on her Instagram Story, Brittany wrote, “I always keep my promises.”

Another promise, or stated goal, Mahomes made this year was to achieve a three-peat, or win three straight Super Bowls. The Chiefs won three Super Bowl rings under Mahomes, but those championships were not consecutive.

It helps that Kansas City can play its best football at the most important time of the year. Their dominance of Pittsburgh on Christmas Day was most impressive. Mahomes threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. The Chiefs defense allowed just 10 points to the Steelers despite outplaying their best player, Chris Jones.
