Patrick Mahomes says he takes ‘some of the credit’ for Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce romance

Travis Kelce appeared to be trying to hook up with Taylor Swift this summer when he made her a bracelet while attending one of her shows on her Eraser Tour.

Soon after, the two began hanging out together and Swift began attending Kansas City Chiefs games.

The pair kept their relationship secret at the time, but by the time Swift first attended the game, the pair were officially dating.

One of Kelsey’s teammates said that without him, the two would never have started dating.

“I want to take some credit, because I was the one who invited Travis to Taylor’s first concert,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday.

“He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker.” He added“I had a little say in it. I was like, ‘Hey, just do it, just do it.’ And Travis did it. He’s a great guy and I’m glad it all worked out.”

That night, Kelsey was initially ignored by Swift.

“I was disappointed that we weren’t going to talk before or after the show because she has to conserve her voice for the 44 songs she’s going to sing,” Kelsey explained on the “New Heights” podcast on July 26 with her brother, NFL legend Jason Kelsey.

“So I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t give her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Kelsey explained the trend of wearing and exchanging friendship bracelets at Swift’s concerts, and said she planned to give Swift a bracelet with her phone number on it.

Kelsey’s public confession caught Swift’s attention, and the two began dating. The game against the Chiefs on September 24th.

“This all started with Travis really cutely dissing me on his podcast, which I thought was so metal,” Swift told TIME magazine.

“We started hanging out together shortly after that,” she added. “So we spent a lot of time together without anyone knowing. We got to know each other, and I’m grateful for that. By the time I went to my first game, we were a couple. I think some people thought they saw our first date at that game. We’re not crazy enough to force a first date.”

Swift flew to Las Vegas after a show in Tokyo last season and watched the Chiefs play 13 games, including the entire postseason and their Super Bowl victory. She was often seen sitting with Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, and Kelsey’s mother, Donna.
