MIAMI — The Super Bowl-winning quarterback’s work is never done.
Patrick Mahomes returned to an NFL stadium on Saturday, just months after helping the Kansas City Chiefs win their second straight Super Bowl. Only this time, he won’t be donning a helmet or entering the huddle as the starting quarterback, but instead visiting with the other athletes as a team owner.
On a humid Saturday here in Miami, Mahomes returned to Hard Rock Stadium, the site of his first Super Bowl victory, to visit his Formula 1 team, Alpine. Back in October 2023, Mahomes was part of a group of athletes who joined the F1 team’s ownership group, along with teammate Travis Kelce.
“I’ve always had a passion for all sports. The opportunity to lead the investor group with Travis at Alpine F1 with Otro Capital was one I couldn’t pass up,” Mahomes said last October. “These are exciting times for sport and an opportunity to bring our shared values to the world stage. I look forward to being a part of that growth.”
The MVP quarterback was spotted on Saturday. SB Nation My wife Brittany and I stepped into the Alpine hospitality space.
The team then shared several photos on social media.
In the first photo, Mahomes can be seen chatting with Alpine team president Bruno Famin.
Shortly after Mahomes’ arrival, Alpine cruised to victory as F1 Academy driver Abi Pring won the first of this weekend’s two F1 Academy races. It was Pring’s second win of the season, but the first time the driver was able to taste victory on the podium. For her first win, she was promoted to P1 after the race and after a podium celebration following a post-race penalty imposed on Mercedes driver Doriane Ping.
Alpine are now hoping Mahomes can bring a little magic to Hard Rock Stadium later today, when Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly line up on the qualifying grid for tomorrow’s Miami Grand Prix.
