Patriots owner on Trump: Like having 'a drunk fraternity brother become president'

The owner of the New England Patriots football team recently equated former President Trump with a “drunken fraternity brother” during his presidency, citing their long-standing friendship.

“I couldn't believe it,” Robert Kraft told Charlamagne Tha God on “The Breakfast Club” on Friday. “Like a drunk fraternity brother, [president of the United States.]”

Mr. Kraft said at the beginning of the interview that he was a “Democrat,” but also said that Mr. Trump “became a social friend in the early '90s when we went to Florida.”

“And when my wife of blessed memory passed away 13 years ago, he was one of four or five people who reached out to me and was really, really kind,” Craft said. continued. “The only thing I donated to him was that he called me when he was elected. And I made a big donation to his inauguration.”

In early 2017, Kraft told Fox News' “Fox & Friends” that the former president “has been great to me over the last 20 years.”

“He was there for me during one of the most difficult times in my life, when my beloved wife passed away,” Kraft added. “I was really depressed, but he invited me to do things and he cared about me. Only four or five people made it that far.”

“I'm very upset,” Kraft said during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club” last week. [about] “What happened on January 6, 2021,” during the riot at the U.S. Capitol, he said, later adding, “I haven't talked to him since.”
