Patriots Tight End Shares Heartbreaking News

Eli Raridon, a tight end for the New England Patriots, along with his wife, Anna, recently provided an emotional update about the birth and death of their newborn son. They expressed their feelings of being “absolutely devastated” that their son, Peter James Raridon, could not come home with them but also shared their gratitude for having deeply loved him during the past nine months.

In a joint post on Instagram, the couple revealed that during a “20-week anatomy scan,” they learned of their son’s diagnosis: anencephaly. They reflected on how it’s often easier to praise God when everything seems to be going well, yet it’s during the hardest moments that they feel closer to Him.

“Our sweet boy, Peter James Raridon, was born on September 11th,” they wrote. “When we went for our anatomy scan, excited to see our baby, our lives changed forever. We found out he had a condition that meant he wouldn’t survive outside the womb.”

“While it breaks our hearts that we could not bring him home, I’m grateful for the opportunity to love him, keep him safe, and be his home for nine months before he was called back to Heaven,” they continued.

They shared a poignant thought in their post: “I often find it easy to glorify the Lord when life is going well, but it is during our toughest trials that we are drawn closest to Him. We may never grasp the reasons for this journey, but we are certain that God watches over His children.”

Anna reflected on the love surrounding their short time with Peter, saying he was “knitted together in the womb by God” and that his life, though brief, held significant meaning. He will always be part of their story.

The couple also included two Bible verses, specifically 1 Peter 1:5-7 and James 1:2-4, the latter stating: “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”

Prior to being drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2026 draft, Raridon played college football at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
