Tom Brady’s Allegiance Questioned by Former Teammates
Tom Brady, once a star of the New England Patriots, has stirred some controversy lately. Some of his former teammates aren’t thrilled about his recent comments regarding the upcoming Super Bowl, where the Patriots will face the Seahawks in 2026. They felt his diplomatic tone seemed off, with Brady stating he wouldn’t specifically support his former team.
Vince Wilfork, who played alongside Brady from 2004 to 2014 and secured two Super Bowl victories, voiced his disappointment. On a recent radio show, he confronted Brady, saying, “That’s nonsense, Tom. All that political talk isn’t necessary. Just be direct about it.” Wilfork emphasized that, as a lifelong Patriot, Brady should have a clear stance instead of sitting on the fence.
This week, Brady made waves by insisting he would favor individual players over the entire team. Was it his new role as a broadcaster influencing him, or possibly his stake in the Raiders? It’s hard to say. He didn’t give Seattle fans a reason to dislike him after winning the title back in 2015.
In his podcast “Let’s Go,” he remarked, “I won’t be bringing my dog to the game. May the best team win.” He noted that this was a fresh chapter for the Patriots under Mike Vrabel and expressed excitement about their progress, highlighting the hard work put in by the players over the years.
Brady mentioned wanting to take a step back and enjoy being a fan rather than being tied to who he is supporting, focusing instead on the athletes competing. He remarked, “It’s not about me; it’s about those on the field.” This view, however, didn’t land well with some of his former teammates.
Asante Samuel, who spent several seasons with Brady, even went so far as to threaten him online for not showing support for Vrabel. He mockingly dubbed Brady “Flaw Ass Brady,” expressing his disappointment in a very direct manner.
Rob Gronkowski, another notable teammate, was surprised at Brady’s stance. He noted that Brady’s lack of support for the team that brought them so much success was hard to understand. Gronkowski speculated that Brady’s competitive nature might play a role, as he seems to still have his eyes on the Super Bowl spotlight.
As the Patriots aim for their seventh championship, they will face off against the Seahawks—an opponent they previously triumphed over to secure their fourth title. Interestingly, Brady won’t be part of the broadcast since NBC holds the rights.
