Patriots’ Robert Kraft wishes the best for Bill Belichick after legendary coach misses out on new job

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft ushered in a new era when the team parted ways with Bill Belichick in January and promoted Jerod Mayo to succeed the legendary head coach. Ta.

When the Patriots decided to work with Coach Mayo, Belichick interviewed twice for the head coaching position with the Atlanta Falcons, but was not accepted. He was rumored to be a candidate for the Washington Commanders during the year, but he never interviewed with the team.

Belichick ended his head coaching whirlwind as a free agent.

On Friday night, Kraft was scheduled to present Jon Bon Jovi with the Person of the Year award and appeared on the red carpet before the Mushicares Gala. FOX News Digital asked Kraft what he thought about Belichick’s failure to stick with the team.

His answer was short.

“Well, he’s a pretty special guy,” Kraft said. “We were lucky to have him for a quarter of a century and we wish him all the best.”

Belichick finished his tenure with the Patriots with six Super Bowl championships and is considered one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history.

Kraft said the Patriots and Belichick parted ways amicably in January.

“I am extremely proud that our partnership has lasted 24 years,” Kraft said at the time. “Bill has taught me a lot over the years. We had high expectations about what we could accomplish together. I think it was just us, but I think it’s safe to say we outperformed that.”
