Pattie Boyd selling letters, lyrics by exes George Harrison, Eric Clapton

Model and photographer Patti Boyd is selling handwritten lyrics and personal letters revealing her relationships with the late Beatle George Harrison and guitarist and singer Eric Clapton.

Ms. Boyd, who turns 80 on Sunday, is married to both musicians and has inspired songs such as Harrison’s “Something” and Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” and “Layla.”

The Patti Boyd Collection, which includes more than 100 items including jewelry, clothing, photographs, handwritten song lyrics and Harrison’s paintings, is being auctioned online at Christie’s until March 22.

“If there was one big treasure chest that described me and my life, all of the items here would be in it…These are all examples of the amazing life I’ve lived,” Boyd said. told Reuters at a press preview on Thursday.

Featured items of the sale include the original artwork chosen by Clapton for the cover of Derek and the Dominos’ 1970 album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, with an estimated sale price of Prices range from $51,228 to $76,842 and include original handwritten lyrics to Harrison’s 1982 song “Mystic One.” ”

Boyd met Harrison on the set of the 1964 Beatles film A Hard Day’s Night.

They married in 1966.

The auction also includes photos of the couple and handwritten postcards of the Beatles.

Clapton stayed at their country home and became infatuated with Boyd, sending her a letter included in the sale in 1970 in which he wrote: I know you’re being cocky, but if you still have feelings for me… be sure to let me know! ”

Boyd eventually separated from Harrison and was married to Clapton from 1979 to 1989. She also has photos of the guitarist with Harrison and other celebrities up for auction.

“Especially when I saw the letter from Eric, it kind of broke my heart, because… I was young when he wrote it, and it was too big for me to accept, and (it was) ) Because it was so emotional and so full of deep content, deep passion, that I, as a girl, as a woman, just couldn’t absorb it,” Boyd said.
