Paul Bissonnette has spoken for the first time about the altercation that resulted in six people being arrested at a restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The popular Barstool podcaster and former NHLer released a nearly three-and-a-half minute video detailing what happened at the Houstons in Scottsdale on Sunday night. Bissonnette reportedly eats at the restaurant regularly.
The former Coyotes agitator said he intervened after seeing a group of “drunken golfers” being brutalized by restaurant staff and at one point one of the men getting in the manager's face and starting to assault him. spoke.
“I could see he was a little shocked, surprised, stunned,” Bissonnette recalled. “It's a family restaurant. I don't think there was anyone who could have gone to help him. I went over there and grabbed the arm of the guy who was on top of him and said, 'Sir, if you're a member of staff, If we continue to harass and assault people, we will have problems.”
“And they just started chucking, so it escalated very quickly.”
authorities told FOX10. Phoenix announced that six people were arrested as a result of the brawl, but Bissonnette said in his video that seven people were involved and that there was “a struggle from the restaurant, all the way to the parking lot, all the way to the CVS.” ”
According to hockeyfights.com, the fights were sometimes vicious, as described by Bissonnette, who played in 69 games during his hockey career.
“I got knocked down a few times,” he said. “CVS failed to boot me a few times. Luckily I didn't get knocked out. I went to the hospital and that's what everyone is reading. They're just bad guys. They were so drunk that they I don't know what else I had.
“I'm very, very angry at them and I want their names to go out into the world and the Pied Piper to pay.”
Police have not released the names of the six people arrested for assault and disorderly conduct.
According to FOX 10, five of the men are facing misdemeanor charges and the sixth is facing felony charges.
According to the newspaper, the altercation occurred around 7:30 p.m. local time.
Bissonnette insisted “everything is fine” and thanked restaurant staff and responding police officers.
“Unacceptable behavior in a family restaurant just because you can't have another cocktail or don't want to hear 'no' for an answer,” he said. “At that point, that guy was on top of the manager, so I just thought I had to quit directing. I took some, I gave more.”
Bissonnette played for the Coyotes from 2009 to 2014, and after his playing career ended, he found success as a broadcaster.
Bissonnette is the co-host of Barstool Sports' popular podcast “Spittin Chiclets” and an analyst for TNT's national NHL coverage.
