The Garden faithful may have left MSG on a sour note after the Rangers blew a third-period lead in Game 5, but Barstool Sports personality and NHL TNT analyst Paul Bissonnette He exposed the Blueshirts’ plight in a video posted to X.
Bissonnette has taken his fair share of pot shots with the Rangers since the start of the season, and he did just that on Monday when it became clear that the second-round series with the Hurricanes would take at least six games.
After the Canes scored their third goal of the night, a mustachioed Bissonnette happily said to the camera, “It’s happening.”
“It’s coming. Game 6 in Carolina,” he continued with a menacing grin. “At five-on-five, if they can stay disciplined, we can win the series.”
Bissonnette, who enjoys the role of being the villain to both Rangers and Islanders fans, continued to poke fun at the situation, posting: “MSG crowd boos team” and call the ranger20 shots on the internet is a “spanking”.
“Bang bang bang. Hurricanes go after half the fans with five minutes left.” he wrote to x. “They’ve given up. Hurricanes fans, show the hockey world what you’ve done on Thursday in Game 6. Don’t give up. With your help, we’ll move on.”
Bissonnette had been criticizing the Rangers long before Monday night’s Game 5 loss, but it started all the way back in September, before the regular season started, during an episode of his popular hockey podcast, Spittin’ Chiclets. He called Shirts “Fugazi.”
The former NHLer even called the Rangers and their fans “crooks” and predicted they wouldn’t make the playoffs.
The Rangers continue to win the President’s Trophy this season, still leading the Hurricanes 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.

“Mark my words, this could be the seventh inning and we can see Fugazi pop up again,” he said in the clip.
Game 6 will be played Thursday in Raleigh.
