Paul Blackburn is expected to return to the Mets' starting rotation on Monday, but it has yet to be determined where his replacement will be assigned.
Manager Carlos Mendoza on Friday refrained from naming who will join Blackburn as Toronto's starter on Tuesday.
Tyler Megill, who made two starts for Blackburn while on injured reserve, seems to be a likely candidate to remain part of the six-man rotation.
Another possibility is that Megill could be assigned to the bullpen or optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
The right-hander started Wednesday against the Red Sox and allowed three runs in four innings.
If Megill remains in the starting rotation, Mendoza would face Sean Manaea on the mound for next weekend's series opener at Philadelphia.
If not, Manaea will likely pitch behind David Peterson in Wednesday's series finale in Toronto.

Megill's value in the bullpen would be as an extended reliever, but that would mean sacrificing a pitcher already on the roster to make room for Blackburn, who was sidelined after being hit with a liner to his right hand.
Mendoza said Dedniel Nunez will continue to rest through the weekend before being evaluated to see if he's ready to start pitching.
The rookie right-hander was placed on the disabled list during the team's last trip with right forearm tightness.
Francisco Lindor's 33 consecutive games with an on-base hit streak ranks third in franchise history, behind Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso.
John Olerud set a Mets record by reaching base in 47 consecutive games in 1998-99.
Sean Reed-Foley was placed on the 60-day disabled list on Thursday to make room on the 40-man roster for outfielder Jose Azocal, but Mendoza said the right-hander's season isn't necessarily over. Mendoza said Reed-Foley has been playing catch.
