Paul George's injury fell into his first season with the 76ers.
The 76ers announced that the rest of the regular season was ruled out after he received injections into his left adductor and left knee on Monday.
The Philadelphia announcement states that George will be on the sidelines for at least six weeks, essentially stripping him off the court for the remainder of the season, where it's unlikely that Philadelphia will reach the postseason.
George is limited to 41 games this season after dealing with several different illnesses over the year.
“Of a lot of players, he falls into the tough season category in terms of injury… and now this is it,” said 76ers head coach Nick Nurse. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “My biggest thing is where we are with everyone else, and as I mentioned the other day, we are with everyone else. [It is] I repaired it first, then healed and returned, and was able to work in my craft again, physically back to 100%. ”
George had spent the past five seasons with the Clippers before signing a four-year, $212 million deal with the 76ers in July.
In 41 games, George averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
In a statement from the 76ers on Monday, the organization said George had been consulting with experts and had received the injection as part of his treatment plan.
George left the popular podcast “Podcast P” earlier this year to focus on the season and his health.

“I was not the healthiest, so I'm focusing on getting my body as healthy as possible, clearly focusing on being here and trying to get things to here.
George's injury issues date back to the beginning of the season when he suffered an overextended left knee during the season and was forced to miss five games at the start of the regular season.
He overstretched it again in November, which caused him to miss three games and injured left Pinky in January.
The 76ers (23-44) were weakened by injuries this season, with Joel coming out for the rest of the season.
