Paul Pierce Walks the Walk After Celtics’ Loss
NBA icon Paul Pierce is sticking to his word.
On Thursday, the former player and FS1 personality set out on an eight-hour, 20.2-mile trek in Los Angeles, announcing his journey via an Instagram story: “Welcome to this trip, I’m here,” he said.
The Celtics’ Game 2 defeat against the Knicks, 91-90, pushed Pierce to this point. Reflecting on the situation, he expressed his disbelief: “I can’t believe this, the Celtics got me here like this,” he shared. “I’m really walking here like this. I took a long walk to go.”
Just hours earlier, on the show “Speak,” he casually declared that if the Celtics lost, he would make the journey to the studio in a bathrobe the next day. He stated, “If the Celtics lose Game 2 at home, I promise I’ll be walking here tomorrow… 15 miles, in my robe, no shoes, bare feet.”
When questioned about his faith in the Celtics, Pierce quipped, “I got a better chance to get out of the studio and see the dinosaurs,” expressing his doubt about the team’s prospects.
As he walked, Pierce joked about the hot weather, noting, “I’m sweating here. Man, I need to take a break right away,” admitting he had “another 16 miles” ahead of him.
The Celtics now find themselves facing elimination, down two games as the series progresses to Game 3 in New York on Saturday. A staple of the franchise, Pierce spent 15 seasons with the Celtics, won the championship in 2008, and was named Finals MVP. After being traded in 2013, he wrapped up his career with the Wizards and Clippers and transitioned into broadcasting, joining FS1 in 2024.
